Bruce Pareto is a contemporary abstract painter who creates uniquely original oil and acrylic paintings from his studio in Vallejo, CA. A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Bruce has a BFA degree from Sonoma State University and his work reflects the artistic heritage of the bay region. His work combines of the color and compositionsl framework of postwar San Francisco Abstract-Expressionism with the playful absurdity of Funk Art. This makes these colorful artworks a marriage of both classical abstraction and a highly personal offbeat narative. His complex compositions evolve slowly and methodically combining academic training skill with intuitive perception. This technique, in which multiple canvases are worked simultaneiously and in a spontaeious manner, has much in common with jazz music. The end result are paintings that are both creative and imaginative, as as decorative and enduring.
